After what seemed like a very long flight we safely arrived in Budapest. We had middle of the plane seats so were unable to really form an opinion of the environment from the air as we flew in. The airport wasn't really that big but it was quick to get our bags and get through customs. The airport was sparkling and clean but open smoking was very evident. We got a minibus ride (thank you Frommer) to our hotel on the Danube which is, as I worried about, somewhat off the beaten path. Our room is 1/2 the size of a normal college dorm room but it is clean and has free wireless internet. It also has air conditioning that was much needed.
After a little nap we had an early supper out on the patio of the hotel overlooking the Danube. The food was good and not terribly expensive. We realized we didn't want to do much more than that today so arranged a sight seeing tour for tomorrow and took a walk along the walking path that goes beside the Danube. It is now about 8:30pm and we are about to go to sleep. It was an absolutely perfect weather day. The staff here have been very nice and helpful. We plan to have a lot more energy tomorrow and really see the city. Thats it for now.

This is really a testament to how things have changed in the six years since I've been to Europe. You have the tiniest room but they have free internet access in it. You can't beat that with a stick as they say.
How exciting!! Glad to know you made it all right. Wish we were there.
Wish we were there. Glad you had a safe and uneventful trip!
Hi Mel and all. I'm a day behind. Sorry I missed saying goodbye. I'll be reading your blog daily and wishing I was there. Keep safe Toni and Terry
